In February, the 18th edition of the Harlem Fine Art Show in New York City, USA, will mark the debut of Bilarteral, an art platform dedicated to bridging Africa and the Diaspora. Bilarteral, an art platform focused on bridging Africa and the Diaspora, is set to make its debut at the 18th edition of the Harlem Fine Art Show in New York City, United States of America, scheduled to be held in February.

Four of the platform’s artists—John Akande, Nojeem Muse, Omoyeni Arogunmati, and Maryam Maigida—were chosen to represent Nigeria at the highly regarded art fair. This announcement represents a major turning point for both the artists and the organisation.

Speaking about the development, Bakare Mubarak, the platform’s founder, characterised the choice as a significant boost for Nigerian art on the international scene. “We are ecstatic to be a part of this prestigious event, which presents the world with the best of Nigerian art.” He declared, “We are proud of our artists and look forward to sharing their distinctive perspectives with the global art community.”

One of the most prominent venues for honouring African, African-American, and Caribbean art is the Harlem Fine Art Show. It has drawn collectors, curators, cultural organisations, and art lovers from all over the world over the years, offering a crucial forum for discussion, trade, and business prospects within the global art ecosystem.

It is anticipated that BILARTERAL’s involvement will highlight Nigeria’s thriving contemporary art scene and bolster its expanding influence in global art circles.

The Nigerian-founded art initiative operates at the nexus of art, heritage, innovation, and market opportunity, according to a statement provided to Saturday Beats. The organisation is dedicated to converting Africa’s abundant artistic and cultural resources into quantifiable social impact and sustainable economic value while facilitating African artists’ access to global markets.
