Burna Boy regretted that the two were never able to work together or carry out their plans in a posthumous birthday message on Instagram.
The conflict between Burna Boy and AKA started in 2019 when Burna Boy threatened to deal with AKA if they ever met after he allegedly incited xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africa.
“Happy birthday, Supa Mega,” wrote Burna Boy. Even though we resolved our disagreement through Twitter direct messages that no one saw, we never had the opportunity to truly connect and complete our assigned tasks. Until I see you again, I will regret that. Until then, Mega, RIP.
AKA was shot and killed on February 10, 2023, outside a Durban restaurant; his murder is still being investigated.
