A Court Orders DNA Tests on Mohbad’s Son

An Ikorodu High Court has ordered three separate DNA tests to be carried out abroad to determine the paternity of Liam, the son of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad.

The court issued the new directive after previous plans to conduct a DNA test failed, causing delays in resolving the dispute between Mohbad’s family and his widow. It was reported that the court gave the new directive after earlier plans to conduct a DNA test stalled, causing delays in resolving the disagreement between Mohbad’s family and his widow.

Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, appeared in court with his lawyer, Oladayo Ogungbe, who explained that the initial court-approved process could not proceed due to concerns about the suitability of the testing centre.

Ogungbe informed the court that a new arrangement had been made to avoid future disputes and ensure trust in the outcome.

According to the new order, three laboratories outside of Nigeria will conduct the tests.

Each party in the case will choose one laboratory, with the court selecting the third.

He also stated that the DNA tests will be performed on tissue samples and that all three results must match before the court accepts the outcome.

According to him, the Mohbad family has always taken this approach because they want a clear and unquestionable outcome.

Ogungbe also stated that Joseph Aloba will not pay for the DNA testing.

He stated that all parties will be present when samples are collected to eliminate any possibility of interference.

Mohbad’s father welcomed the decision and stated that he was comfortable with the court’s process.

While Mohbad’s widow, Wunmi, has continued to claim that Liam is the late singer’s biological son, his father has insisted on a DNA test to clear all doubts.

The court’s decision is expected to bring an end to the paternity dispute, which has lingered for months.
