Nollywood’s Women Are Its Backbone – Omotola

According to award-winning Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, women are the backbone of the Nigerian film industry because they control important sectors and frequently run several businesses in addition to their acting careers.

The actress emphasised the vital role women have played in maintaining Nollywood since its inception in an interview with Naija FM 102.7 that was posted on YouTube on Friday and has since gone viral.

“This industry has always been dominated by women. The people who succeed in this field are women. The majority of producers are women. “Nollywood is really run by women,” she stated.

She also emphasised the entrepreneurial spirit of female actors, pointing out that many of them manage several businesses in addition to their careers.

She stated, “I don’t know any female actors, even those who are small and new to the industry, who don’t get at least like three or four businesses.” Many of the women are given business. They operate in different ways. Influencers make up the majority of them. They have stores and engage in modelling and acting.

“This one gets boutique, that one gets boutique, and almost everyone I know gets one or the other,” you’ll hear. Our work is really demanding. You must always be available. I think this is absurd when it comes to acting. The balance must exist, in my opinion.

Omotola also contrasted the experiences of male and female actors, claiming that although men are admired, women receive more intense attention.

“I don’t think it’s as intense as the women, but male actors do try,” she remarked. Women receive admiration. Though women have more, men also receive admirers who support them.

Omotola continued by disclosing that despite being married, she still gets gifts and support from admirers, both men and women.

I’m a married woman, and I’m aware of how many people don’t do things to me. Men and women don’t just act like men; they simply see me and say, “Oh, I’m sending you this,” she added. “They don’t dash me car before sef.”

The actress emphasised that her husband is still totally safe in their marriage, even with all of the attention and presents.

“The most secure person is my husband. You’re not going to be secure if you marry Omosexy. You will never meet a more secure person than my husband. “The safest, you know, no trembling,” she said.

One of Nollywood’s most admired actresses, Omotola has been married for more than 20 years and has often discussed the value of stability and trust in a marriage.
