Veteran Nollywood actress and gospel minister Eurechria Anunobi has shared more details about the heartbreaking loss of her teenage son, revealing that mistakes made during his treatment contributed to his death.
During a recent appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast, Anunobi recounted the events that took place while her son was receiving care in the hospital. She explained that her son was in critical condition when a student doctor attended to him. Instead of performing the necessary blood transfusion, the student doctor allegedly extracted blood from her son’s body. Anunobi stated that three pints of blood were taken at a time when he was already struggling to survive.
She described this moment as both painful and shocking, emphasizing that the action worsened her son’s already weak condition. Anunobi also discussed the emotional and financial pressures she faced while trying to keep her son alive. She took on the responsibilities alone during this difficult time, paying bills and managing all other needs related to his care. She stated, “Instead of the student doctor doing a blood transfusion, he performed blood extraction… I lost three pints of my son’s blood. I was the one paying rent and taking care of everything. Charles never contributed a single Naira.”
Her son, Raymond Ekwu, had been battling complications linked to sickle cell disease before his untimely death in 2017 after years of struggling with the condition.
