Singer Spyro has expressed his belief that leaving wealth for his children is not advisable, arguing that they should learn to be self-reliant. He stated, “I don’t subscribe to the idea of leaving money for my children when I’m gone because I don’t know how they will handle it. Once you fall from grace and lose your money, you may find yourself in a difficult position.”
Spyro also shared that he has invested heavily in his music career, sometimes with little return. He noted the importance of recognising a spiritual dimension to every physical effort. “For everything physical you see, there’s a spiritual aspect to it. There are songs I’ve spent over a hundred million on, and when you check the streams, you’re left wondering what went wrong. The most I’ve spent on a music video is about fifty million,” he revealed.
Additionally, the singer criticised the explicit content found in many music videos, stating that many artists would not feel comfortable showing their own children these videos. “Many of us as artists wouldn’t want our children to watch our music videos because, frankly, they can resemble pornography,” he pointed out.
On the topic of faith, Spyro described himself as a “Jesus boy” but clarified that he does not produce gospel music. “I’m a Jesus boy because I love God and serve Him, but my music is not specifically gospel,” he explained.
He acknowledged the influence of Wizkid on his musical style, mentioning that his breakthrough came after he turned to God during a challenging time in his life. “Wizkid influences everyone; I’ve learned a lot from him musically,” Spyro said. “I can trace my success back to the moment I reached the end of myself. I tried everything—talent, effort, and nothing worked. Then I turned back to God, asking for help for my own sake and for my mom.”
