Annie Idibia, a Nollywood actress and reality TV star, has addressed rumours about her marital status, stating that she does not consider herself a single mother, but rather a single woman raising two children.
In a Monday Instagram post, the actress reposted a message by an Instagram user, @katyeneff, who identifies as a “Feminine Magnetism & Aliveness Activator” and reflects on identity, motherhood, and personal growth.
“I’m not a single mother. “I’m a single woman raising two children,” the post stated.
It went on, “My children don’t need me married. They need me to be alive. They need me to be true. They need me free.”
The message emphasized that her journey is not about “doing it alone,” but about “legacy work—breaking the chains that told women to stay small, silent, or suffer ‘for the kids.'”
“I’m not a single mother. “I’m a woman rising…and two beautiful souls rise with me,” it continued.

The post emphasized personal peace and emotional stability as central to parenting, writing, “My peace brings them peace. My joy makes them happy. My radiance gives them safety. This is what it looks like to lead a family.”
Reflecting on her development, it added, “My children get to see me grow. They get to see me rise. They get to see a woman rebuild her world with joy rather than bitterness. That is the greatest gift I will ever give them.
The message rejected stereotypes often associated with single motherhood, stating, “Being a ‘single mum’ comes with a story society wrote for us: overwhelmed, struggling, limited, surviving. That isn’t my story.
Annie’s post comes months after the dissolution of her marriage to singer 2Baba (born Innocent Idibia).
PUNCH Online reported that their marriage ended in January 2025, after 2Baba publicly announced their separation. The couple has two children.
Following their split, Annie reportedly sought rehabilitation, while 2Baba moved on with his new fiancée, Edo lawmaker Natasha Osawaru.
Although the divorce has yet to be finalized, both parties appear to have chosen separate paths.
Annie has entered a new phase of her life since their separation, marked by self-care and a renewed focus on her daughters.
She went on a wellness retreat in Qatar; Singapore; and Cape Town, South Africa, and has frequently shared reflective posts about healing, self-worth, and growth.
In September, she wrote, “I hope my daughter doesn’t accept things I’ve accepted, that she knows her worth from the start, and that no matter what, she always has me on her side.”
At the 17th Headies Awards in Lagos in May 2025, Annie publicly acknowledged the separation by introducing herself as “Annie Idi…” before correcting to “Annie Macaulay.”
Her most recent post reinforces that narrative, which focuses on identity beyond marital status and portrays motherhood as a part of, but not the sum of, who she is.
