Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko has responded to the widespread criticism that her previous posts about children received after they were rediscovered.
According to reports, an old post from March 14, 2012, talked about a four-year-old boy named David and how he showed Simi affection.
She wrote in the since-deleted tweet that the child was approaching her physically and resting his head close to her, and she was unsure of how to react to his interest.
Some social media users criticised the tweet after it swiftly went viral. Numerous people voiced their concerns about the content and demanded that her previous posts be examined more closely.
Simi responded by saying that she wasn’t well-known at the time and that the tweets were a reflection of her day-to-day experiences working at her mother’s crèche.
She claimed that nothing in the posts was intended to be offensive and that they were intended to highlight the mischievous and adorable nature of kids.
She added that she wanted to make it clear that her words were being misrepresented online, but that she had no reason to explain.
Despite acknowledging that the tweets could be interpreted in a variety of ways, the singer maintained that they were not perverse.
She remembered pursuing her music career and publicly posting about her life on social media, including humorous posts about kids.
She said that to protect her family, her team has since removed a number of the tweets.
