Eucharia Anunobi, a seasoned Nollywood actress, has discussed the backlash and public criticism that followed her performance in the contentious 1996 film Glamour Girls 2.
In a recent interview with the Honest Bunch Podcast, Eucharia reportedly stated that some people didn’t realise that her character in the film, Anita, a wild and promiscuous escort, wasn’t her true self.
The actress claims that after appearing in the film, some people started to identify her with Anita’s character and called her a “husband snatcher and mammy water”.
Many people mistook her for a seductress, Eucharia Anunobi continued, forgetting that she was merely acting out a script.
The actress disclosed that she received additional compensation for the film’s sultry bathtub scene with Zack Orji.
“I faced a lot of backlash for my role in Glamour Girls 2,” she stated. The Nigerian people at the time pretended that they didn’t watch these kinds of films. I was being labelled by a lot of people. They referred to me as Husband Snatcher, Mammy Water, and Sharon Stone.
“I played a student who robbed a wealthy man of his wife. I was therefore perceived as a seductress by many. I mean, I’m really attractive.
“I can’t deny that because denying myself would be a denial of God. Many people said, “Leave your man with Eucharia; she’s going to take him away. “It was so crazy that women would cling to their men when they saw me.
