Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, a seasoned actress and director, has offered her opinions on the practice of using dance to promote films. Veteran actress and filmmaker Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has shared her thoughts on the trend of using dance to promote movies.

She said she wouldn’t dance to promote a film during an appearance on TVC Entertainment.

However, she said that as long as dancing is enjoyable and natural, she has no problem with it. However, he added that when it is forced, it becomes an issue.

The thespian clarified that rather than originating from impromptu or genuine expressions, the criticism of dance-driven promotions frequently stems from the pressure actors are under.

“I apologise, but I will not be dancing. I’m really, really sorry. It’s simply not me. I move. I’m sure many of us enjoy dancing as much as I do.

“I believe the issue and the reason many people are laughing at it is that you want to dance because you want to, not because you have to.

“Alright, there’s a difference. Therefore, there’s nothing wrong with you guys having fun while promoting a movie. That’s not the same,” she remarked.

Omotola emphasised that it is her responsibility as an actor to give high-calibre performances and that marketing should be left to the experts.

However, it’s not professional when it turns into a chore or when you have to do this in order to even sell a film. I already completed the project, so I should go around discussing it and promoting it. After that, I should let the people who are responsible for project distribution and advertising handle that,” she said.

Her remarks are in line with Kunle Afolayan’s recent declaration that he wouldn’t dance to promote a film and that, if his earnings are only 10 million, he would prefer not to make a 1 billion film.
