Ahmed Ololade, also known as Asake, is a Nigerian singer who made history by being the first performer to dominate the Billboard US Afrobeats Songs chart with multiple entries. Nigerian singer Ahmed Ololade aka Asake has made history by becoming the first artist to dominate the Billboard US Afrobeats Songs chart with multiple entries.
With his most recent collaboration with Wizkid, Jogodo, peaking at number four this week, the Mr. Money crooner now has a record 60 entries on the chart.
Fans celebrated on social media after the milestone was revealed by well-known music platform Chart Data on Elon Musk’s X. In the meantime, South African singer Tyla maintained her dominance on the chart with her popular song Channel holding the top spot. Tyla, who was named the best Afrobeats artist of 2025, previously broke the record with her song Water, which peaked at number one for an amazing 55 weeks.
In other news, this week saw Nigerian superstar Burna Boy hit a new high on the Billboard Hot 100. After a remix with Chris Brown, his feature on Gunna’s song WGFT rose to number 16. Additionally, Burna Boy created history by being the first African musician to have a song on the Hot 100 for five years in a row, from 2021 to 2025. According to a prior report, Asake spoke out after Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti warned him to “be careful of Wizkid.” Only a few days had passed since Grammy-winning superstar Wizkid and Seun Kuti engaged in a fierce online feud that took over Nigerian social media. However, Asake seemed to intensify his collaboration with Big Wiz rather than retreat. When Seun Kuti called Wizkid FC “the most ignorant fan base,” implying that their parents had not accomplished what his father, Fela Kuti, had, the conflict intensified.
In a sharp retort, Wizkid referred to Seun as a “fool at forty,” a “hungry [expletive],” and a “frog who lives in the mud.” Tension between the two musicians increased when Seun threatened Wizkid with “never being successful again” if he didn’t remove Fela’s tattoo from his hand.
As the dust settled, Seun Kuti turned to Asake and warned him to be cautious around Wizkid, particularly since the YBNL star had confirmed a joint project with Big Wiz. On January 23, 2026, Asake announced the release of Real EP Vol. 1, his collaborative project with Wizkid, against that dramatic backdrop. Both artists collaborated to post the announcement on Instagram. The caption for a stylish promo video read, “Real EP Vol. 1 ti jade bayi,” which translates to “Real EP Vol. 1 is out now.” This occurred just one week after the two released the EP’s lead single, Jogodo, on January 16, 2026.
