The drama never ends in Naija! The Nigeria Police Force has finally spoken out on why activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore was dramatically arrested at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
According to police spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, Sowore was nabbed for allegedly leading a group of protesters into a restricted area, defying a standing court order.
Hundeyin revealed that 13 people who were earlier arrested during the protest reportedly pointed fingers at Sowore, claiming he was the one who led them into the restricted zone.
“It would be unfair to prosecute those 13 without including the person who led them,” Hundeyin stated while speaking to journalists.
The police say the controversial activist will face charges in court once investigations are concluded.
Just to refresh your memory — a few days ago, eight protesters were picked up near Transcorp Hilton, while five others were arrested around the Ministry of Finance during the Free Nnamdi Kanu protest.
According to the police, those arrested earlier didn’t even spend 24 hours in custody before being arraigned.
Now, Sowore’s arrest has stirred major reactions online, with many Nigerians divided — some say it’s oppression, others insist he went too far this time.
One thing is clear though — this saga is just heating up! Stay tuned for more updates right here on Gistlover News.
