This hit differently. Yemi Alade recently revealed that she struggled with depression after she admitted to under-reporting her age for three years.
In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the Grammy-nominated singer confessed that she told people she was 22 — only to discover later she was actually 25. That “revelation” plunged her into emotional turmoil.
She said she felt pressured by industry expectations and the “age game,” which pushed her into a mental and emotional storm.
“I kept saying I was 22 for 3 years… when I realised I was 25, I was depressed for a few days,” she shared.
Yemi also denied past harassment rumors and opened up about how dealing with false narratives can take its toll on one’s psyche.
Fans are sending her love and prayers — and many are saying this level of honesty makes her even more relatable.
