Experienced Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola has explained why she doesn’t live a glamorous life like some of her peers, saying that acting doesn’t make the kind of money that people in Nigeria think it does. Bimbo Akintola, a seasoned Nollywood actress, has explained why she does not lead a glamorous life like some of her peers, claiming that acting by itself does not generate the kind of money that people in Nigeria believe it does.
According to reports, she disclosed this in a recent interview that was released on February 1, 2026, where she answered questions from the public about her wealth and way of life after working in the film industry for many years.
Many people believe that being famous as an actress always means making money, according to Akintola.
She asserts that the revenue from film platforms such as Africa Magic and others is not enough to sustain opulent lifestyles.
The actress also mentioned that the general public often ignores the fact that some entertainers earn money from sources other than acting.
She clarified that when people make comparisons between her and actresses who lead extravagant lifestyles, they neglect to inquire about the other ventures or pursuits these actresses engage in outside of acting.
Akintola, who has worked in Nollywood for decades, went on to say that movie ticket sales alone are insufficient to sustain many of the opulent lifestyles that are portrayed on social media.
She pointed out that the public frequently has misconceptions about how money actually moves in the entertainment sector, particularly for actors whose primary source of income is film roles.
“When people ask me why I am not as wealthy as other actresses, I tell them to go ask what other jobs they do,” she stated.
We’ve heard tales of certain actresses engaging in financial transactions with politicians. We are aware of the price that Africa Magic and other platforms pay for a film.
“Many actresses cannot become wealthy through acting alone, especially considering how little movie platforms pay.”
“Acting fees alone cannot account for the majority of the ostentatious lifestyles people see online.”
