Just a few months after declaring he was quitting the film business to devote all of his time to music, Nollywood actor Ray Emordi is back in the spotlight.
According to reports, the 35-year-old actor announced in February that he was leaving Nollywood to focus solely on music, which he called his first love.
He has now decided to return to acting after a four-month hiatus from film sets, claiming that the time off restored his enthusiasm for the craft.
In a video posted to his YouTube channel, Emordi announced the news and explained his decision to return to the screen.
The actor claimed that years of working without getting enough sleep led to his earlier decision to leave Nollywood. He made appearances in roughly 300 productions, including short films, television shows, and feature films, between 2017 and the end of 2025.
He claimed that the demanding workload had worn him out both mentally and physically.
He said, “Nollywood, I am sorry. I was so exhausted that I stopped acting. Imagine performing in roughly 300 productions between 2017 and the end of last year. No vacations for eight years. Exhaustion is a natural result of doing too much. I am solely to blame. I didn’t manage my workload effectively, and I took on too many films.
“I won’t go overboard this time. I will only take on enough work to satisfy me creatively without becoming physically exhausted. My main motivation for acting is to have a positive influence rather than to earn money. I want to leave a positive footprint in the world before I go.”
