Lateef Adedimeji, a Nollywood actor, has admitted to crying in films to differentiate himself from his colleague Odunlade Adekola.
According to reports, Lateef stated in an interview with media personality Morayo Afolabi Brown on her YouTube podcast that fans frequently pointed out his resemblance to Odunlade in the early stages of his career.
The movie star, on the other hand, stated that he wanted people to remember him for something specific, such as his ability to cry.
According to Lateef Adedimeji, his rise to prominence was fuelled by his crying roles, as people referred to him as the ‘crying machine’ without knowing his name.
He admitted, “I became known as the crying machine.” They don’t know my name, but they describe me as the guy who always cries in movies.
“When I first entered the entertainment industry, people referred to me as that guy who resembled Odunlade, but I wanted people to remember me for one thing, which is my crying talent.”
When asked about his Iya Peju comic character, the actor said it began during lockdown and that he didn’t take it seriously until people asked for more.
He stated, “The Iya Peju character began in lockdown, and I didn’t take it seriously until people asked for more.”
