Ruth Kadiri, a well-known Nollywood actress, has expressed worry about Nigeria’s rising cost of living, stating that many families are finding it difficult to provide for their basic needs as food prices keep rising.
According to reports, Kadiri expressed her worries in a video that was uploaded to her Instagram page on Wednesday. In it, she discussed the difficulties that many Nigerians are experiencing as a result of the nation’s economic circumstances.
She claims that the growing expense of food and other necessities has put a significant strain on households and is negatively impacting many people’s emotional health.
The actress acknowledged that recent events have deeply troubled her, but she said she rarely complains about difficulties.
The situation could be considerably worse for low-income earners trying to make ends meet on meagre salaries, she pointed out, if those who are financially secure are starting to feel the strain of the economy.
“As a human being, I’m not known for complaining,” she remarked. But you see, I’ve been really troubled over the last few days. I wonder what other people are going through if someone like me can begin to feel the weight of being a human being.
“Tomatoes are so expensive these days. For example, someone will purchase a tomato and pepper with ₦5,000. As in ₦5,000. Someone else is most likely making 25, 30, 40, or ₦50,000. However, you are only purchasing tomatoes and peppers with 5,000. We don’t even want to mention a basket of tomatoes. You know, feeding, which is essential in Nigeria, is now extremely expensive.
