Funke Akindele, a multi-award-winning actress and producer, has made history with her latest film, “Behind The Scenes,” which has become the highest-grossing Nollywood film of 2025, earning N2.103 billion in just one month. Multi-award-winning actress and producer Funke Akindele has made history with her latest film, ‘Behind The Scenes,’ which has become the highest-grossing Nollywood movie of 2025, earning N2.103 billion in just a month.

The film, distributed by FilmOne Entertainment, broke five opening-weekend records, including the highest single-day gross on Boxing Day (N129.5 million).

The distributor announced that Behind the Scenes broke records by earning over ₦2 billion at the box office, making it Africa’s first Nollywood film to do so.

“This is also the highest-grossing Nollywood film of all time in Africa, the United Kingdom, and Ireland, and @funkejenifaakindele becomes the first filmmaker to top the African box office for three years in a row. “West Africa’s most successful filmmaker, writer, director, and producer of all time.”

This achievement solidifies Akindele’s status as an industry powerhouse, as her third film grosses more than N1 billion.

Akindele’s impressive track record has earned her the title of West Africa’s most successful filmmaker, writer, director, and producer of all time.

The film’s success can be attributed to its early screenings, all-star cast, and relatable plot, which delves into themes of family, loyalty, and social pressures.

Scarlet Gomez, Iyabo Ojo, Destiny Etiko, Tobi Bakre, and Uche Montana delivered memorable performances that captivated audiences.

Akindele expressed her gratitude to fans by saying, “Joy overflows!” Our hearts are filled with gratitude to God and to you, my incredible fans who have become like family. Thank you for participating, supporting, and believing in this journey. Without you, we would not have been able to reach this incredible milestone and continue counting. I am very grateful. Let’s continue to push, grow, and support the Funke Akindele Network brand together.”
