Nana Otedola, a Nigerian-British businesswoman and the wife of billionaire Femi Otedola, has responded to rumours regarding her nationality.

Because of her name and appearance, she denied being Ghanaian.

She reportedly clarified this in a widely shared video with her expectant daughter, Temi.

She clarified that she is proudly Nigerian and that Abeokuta in Ogun State is where her roots can be found.

Otedola stated that although she can appreciate the curiosity, she thought it was crucial to correct the record.

“To make room for everyone, I’m an Egba woman, and that’s the part I’ll gladly claim as a Nigerian,” she declared. My roots are in Abeokuta; I am not a Ghanaian.

Nana suggested that her upbringing might be connected to the confusion. She clarified that she was raised in various regions of Nigeria.

She also mentioned that she spent nearly 20 years living in Kaduna State, where she was born.

She claims that people’s perceptions of her identity may have been influenced by her extended stay in northern Nigeria.

“I spent nearly twenty years living in Kaduna, where I was born,” she stated.

She claimed that even though she has connections to Kaduna, her identity is still deeply ingrained in Egba territory.
