According to Afrobeats artist Ayra Starr, she would not have had a job if her music career had not been successful.
The singer reportedly revealed this in a recent conversation with EE72.
She explained how music altered her life’s course while thinking back on her ascent to fame, her experience with Mavin Records, and the realities of living in the spotlight.
“I would literally have no job if I weren’t performing music. I don’t even believe I would produce content. That would require a great deal of effort. “I would simply be enjoying my mother’s food and relaxing in her home,” she remarked.
The 24-year-old also recalled how thrilled she was to discover that her music had been heard by Don Jazzy and the Mavin team prior to her signing.
When I discovered that they were enjoying my music, I was ecstatic. She said, “You know who it is.”
Ayra Starr acknowledged the drawbacks of fame, saying she occasionally wishes people knew less about her because she often speaks candidly in interviews.
“I wish there was less information about me. I can’t stop talking once the camera turns on. She continued, “And I think I overshare.”
Ayra Starr, whose real name is Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, signed with Mavin Records in 2020 after Don Jazzy found her on social media.
Since then, she has developed into one of Nigeria’s top music exports, releasing albums such as “19 & Dangerous” and “The Year I Turned 21” and receiving numerous accolades, nominations, and recognition abroad.
