Mr Real, a Nigerian singer, has declared that he would rather turn into a bandit than follow First Lady Remi Tinubu’s advice to start small businesses.
According to earlier reports, Tinubu encouraged Nigerians to think about launching low-capital small enterprises like akara, roasted maize and kuli-kuli.
“It doesn’t take a lot of money to start an akara business,” she stated. It doesn’t take much to begin roasting corn or kuli-kuli. We gave them a grant instead of a loan. We have done everything we could to inspire Nigerians. I also gave to several other people.
However, Mr. Real claimed in a string of Instagram posts that he would prefer to become a bandit.
The singer disapproved of the notion that the nation’s economic problems could be resolved by petty trading.
“I would rather join a bandit than sell kulikuli and Akara,” he wrote. Politicians will also be my target. If I’m caught, they will at least habituate me. Thus, the risk is worthwhile.
The First Lady, Remi Tinubu, has come under fire from Nigerian female disc jockey Obianuju Catherine Udeh, better known by her stage name DJ Switch, for encouraging Nigerians to think about small-scale businesses like selling akara, roasted corn and kuli-kuli.
Speaking about the Renewed Hope Initiative’s operations, the First Lady stated that the programme has been helping vulnerable Nigerians launch businesses and improve their standard of living by giving them grants rather than loans.
“We’re trying to give hope, and starting the Akara business doesn’t take a lot of money,” she stated. Someone even mentioned that kuli kuli doesn’t require much to begin roasting maize. We gave them a grant rather than a loan.
Thus, we have done everything in our power to uplift Nigerians. I have given and continue to give what is in our hands.
Since then, the remarks have caused a stir on the internet, and DJ Switch has also denounced them.
DJ Switch stated on Instagram that Remi Tinubu is promoting the sale of kuli-kuli while other countries are building infrastructure and spaces to prepare their citizens for this quickly changing world.
“With absolutely no due respect, Remi! Thunder strikes you!” she wrote. You want us to sell kuli-kuli while other countries are building infrastructure and spaces to help their citizens grow in this fast-developing world? Behind you, the Otondos are nodding their avaricious necks! People, there are no words to describe how much I hate you.
