Popular Nigerian cleric Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, also known as Odumeje, has encouraged Afrobeats star Davido following his loss at the 2026 Grammy Awards.

According to reports, during a church service, Odumeje downplayed the significance of the Grammy Awards, claiming that Davido’s success and place in music go beyond trophies. It was reported that during a church service, Odumeje played down the value of the Grammy Awards, saying Davido’s success and place in music go beyond trophies.

He told the congregation that the singer’s name, career, and influence already put him ahead of any award ceremony.

The cleric described Davido as a rare talent whose life and musical journey are achievements in and of themselves.

According to him, the singer has already received adequate recognition as a result of his impact on fans and the music industry.

Odumeje also encouraged Davido not to let criticism or disappointment dampen his joy or confidence.

He encouraged the singer to stay focused, find new inspiration, and keep creating music that will surprise the world.

He warned him not to pay attention to people or places where his efforts are not valued.

He also advised Davido to be wary of negative voices, stating that the singer has already achieved a high level in life and should not allow anyone to undermine his drive or diminish his worth.

Davido was nominated for Best African Music Performance at the 68th Grammy Awards for his collaboration with Omah Lay, “With You”.

Other nominees in the category included Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Ayra Starr, as well as Tyla, who won the award for the second consecutive year.
